Skovgaard Europe provides a discussion forum named "france" to enable anyone to discuss subjects concerning expatriates in France.

The forum is open to anyone with an e-mail address after simple subscription. Only subscribed members can post messages. Use of the forum is entirely free of charge.

Please observe a courteous tone at all times and avoid insults etc.

This forum is not monopolised in English, and we welcome posts in the following languages:

It is ok to post information about a specific company providing a product or service relevant for expats in France in context with a subject being discussed, but this forum is not intended for pure commercials out of context. You may advertise articles for sale if they concern a private sale. In case of doubt, or if you are interested in paid advertising on this site, please use our contact page to ask us.

Professional spammers please notice that if you abuse this forum for spamming, your e-mails will immediately be removed from the user list, and if spamming becomes a problem, subscribing to this forum will become subject to approval in each case. You will not be able to continue spamming this forum, so please leave us alone.

The forum works only through e-mail. We hope to be able to add a web interface later.

For the techies, we use a basic Majordomo server.  Those who are familiar with Majordomo can use the usual Majordomo commands, sending posts to france@skovgaard.org and commands to majordomo@skovgaard.org.

For the non-techies, we have tried to make it as easy as possible to use by including simple links below that you can click on. Clicking should open a new message in your e-mail client (Outlook, Eudora etc.) and fill in the required information. If you use web-based e-mail, such as Hotmail or Yahoo, this will not work. Please refer to the section "Manual use" below.

If posting a message, you fill in the subject and the message body and send the e-mail. 

If subscribing or sending other commands to the server, all you have to do is click "send" in your e-mail client. Soon after, you should receive an e-mail from the server that tells you if your command was successful or not. In case of problems, please use our contact page to get help from us.

Click on "subscribe" below and send the e-mail. You should receive an e-mail with a request that you confirm your subscription. This is to verify that the e-mail address exists. When you have confirmed, you will receive a confirmation message, and from then on, you can post messages to the forum, and you will receive postings.

If you use web-based e-mail, or if the links above don't work for you, then you have to follow the instructions below.

To post a message to the forum, send an e-mail with subject and your text to france@skovgaard.org.

To subscribe or send other commands to the server, you must send an e-mail with a command to the server at majordomo@skovgaard.org. Do not send commands to france@skovgaard.org. They will not be processed, and they could be distributed to all subscribers.

Always leave the subject line empty when sending commands. Type the command exactly as shown below on the first line of the message text and type the word "end" on line 2. Anything following "end" will not be processed.
